Google Chrome blank page – Possible sign of rootkit infection

Believe it or not, I discovered this 1 year ago while using Windows XP. The first sign of the possible infection is that any page you open in Google Chrome is blank and that you can’t load any page that you type in it. Funny thing is that I haven’t noticed this rootkit on my system until I wondered about why Google Chrome is showing blank pages. What did I do to remove the TDSS rootkit? Well I used the Kasperky’s TDSSKiller. You can download it from:http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/solutions?qid=208280684

No, I’m not advertising this product. In fact this is the only program that successfully removed the rootkit. After downloading it, unzip it and run scan. It will then scan the PC for possible rootkits and when he founds them (it) it will offer you to restart your PC and remove rootkit. After reboot, you should be able to normally browse the web via Google Chrome once again. Please share your experience and if the program helped you.

I downloaded it, removed one RootKit called sdst or something… still not working. Google images, maps and everything but the web search works on Google Chrome. I can use all of Google functions properly on Firefox and IE8 though. What should I do if my Google Chrome is still not working after using TDSS?

Have you tried to reinstall Chrome after the rootkit removal?
