The answer to this question would probably be WordPress, Drupal or Joomla (or something else). Everyone would praise each platform for doing the job they made it to do, but which platform does really do the best job for the bloggers? In our opinion the Joomla is one of the great open source CMS which powers many independent as well many of the companies websites, and is usually seen as perfect solution to get things done professionally but cheap. Drupal is praised because of its modability but somewhat seen as too hard from newbies look to use it. There are many different Drupal applications, some even made totally for different use like OpenAtrium which is somewhat professional collaboration platform (Still in beta. Wait a sec it’s out?). Many of the installation profiles on the Drupal websites are totally different applications, but they add to the variety of the Drupal platform, thus showing the possibilities of Drupal and how much it is extensible. Drupal isn’t actually best solution for the blog because its focus is totally in more CMS direction, making different platforms. If you have a time to actually learn Drupal, one day you may even have successful website like the White House one which is using Drupal.
Joomla is more of a corporate community CMS, but still more friendly than the Drupal. With the version 1.7 it became even more friendlier for the newbies. The plugins for Joomla extend it beyond the normal CMS, thus making it one of the most supported open source CMS platform on the world, which basically can be integrated with everything having a community ready to write bridge for anything which is good to use with Joomla. Sure Joomla has a lot of blogging plugins and dedicated user community but that doesn’t make it a good thing for blogging. Still it is somewhat better than the Drupal in term of friendliness towards new users, but isn’t made for professional blogging. If your priority isn’t high one and you just want corporate website with some basic blogs then use Joomla.
Wordpress is one of most easiest of all three to learn and use. Having been used on nearly every successful blog in the last 4 years, it stands as one of the most used blogging platforms on the plane. There is a lot of free themes, and plugins which helps the new users get their website, blog up and running without actually spending a penny. Of course there are a lot commercial themes and plugins here as well as there are on Joomla but they are totally worth it. WordPress is easy as cake to use, and from the version 3.0 and on it is even more easier to get used to. If you want to start blogging then use the WordPress. WordPress to can be altered for different uses like Joomla and Drupal, but as with them the point in WordPress is mainly blogging, with Drupal extensibility, and with Joomla corporate and social interaction with the users. After using WordPress, as your skill progress you will find that each of this site does the best the thing it was made for. Sure there will be always attempts to try and get the something to do what it wasn’t made for, but it usually can never replace the real thing. What’s your take on best platform for blogging use?
